BREAK OUT OF FRAMES HERE
Return with us now, to those thrilling days of yesteryear!!! Ride the rigs the old-timers rode. We offer a selection of Civil War and Indian Wars saddles, horse gear, and leather accoutrements for your consideration. We furnish both civilian and military equipment.
O f special interest to the ladies, in addition to the beauty and comfort of our old time slick fork saddles, is their light weight...... Consider 35 pounds or less, rigged and ready to ride.
Many of our customers are occasional trail riders, who rent their horses, but value their comfort.
Old West Saddle Shop is a custom shop, so if you have an idea, a sample or a picture of an item you want, and can't find, we can make it for you. If you don't quite know what you need or want, please take a look at our page on selecting a saddle. Give us a call and we'll try and help you decide. We can fill your wish list with authentic, correct equipment. Evenings are a good time to reach me.
We are in the process of producing a video DVD series titled "How to build an 1868/1872 half seat saddle." The series will consist of approximately 10 DVD's that will be available separately at a cost of $60 each. A complete set of patterns for either the 1868 or 1872 will be offered at a cost of $75. The initial offering will assume some knowledge of and the tools for leatherworking. A basic series will be offered if sufficient interest suggests it. We plan to expand into video DVD's covering the construction of saddle pockets, tapaderos, martingale breast collars, covered stirrups, and possibly rawhide gullet bead, rawhide horn binding and rawhide cantle binding . I am not planning, at this time, to produce anything on leather carving or leather stamping. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!! We plan delivery by early spring, if the creek don't rise. Thanks for your time Dave

January 12, 2009 Dave, How are things? I realized after getting my saddle (Sante Fe) I never communicated with you again. Just want to say that this is the best saddle Ive ever owned (and you can ask my wife how many saddles I have!). Everything you say about the comfort and rideability have turned out to be absolutely true. I think next summer I will set aside my Wintec Pro Endurance and do an endurance ride in the Santa Fe... Best regards, Fred Klink San Ramon, CA |
